If there’s anything to take away from our recent times, it’d be the fact that even the best laid out plans can falter at any given moment. After all the postponements and cancellations we’ve faced, we can tell that even plan B might not be good enough. Well, it’s a good thing we have something to fall back on at least when it comes to fashion, cause when we go down, we go in style!
I bet we all have those particular pieces that we just can’t do without. It’s the go-to black denim that I could wear straight through the week and the comfy sneakers that desperately need a wash ( oops self-expose) for me. Just those good old fashion staples that could save you from drowning in your ‘planning the outfit’ thoughts on Monday mornings!
While it might sound plain or boring to some of y’all, trust me sometimes less can be so much more when it comes to fashion and styling. You never know which basic b will help you elevate your fits, and the best part is that most of them are so gender neutral and always open to countless options!
Turtlenecks
Be it summers or winters, dark academia or grunge, preppy or classy there’s always a turtleneck for you! These babies are so versatile that they could literally fit in anywhere. Whether you want to go for a casual look or a sophisticated one, turtlenecks always have your back and they will never go out of style. Turtlenecks for summers, how do we do that? Choose a brighter color, like orange or bubblegum pinks, and thinner fabrics, say sheer or even sleeveless ones could do the trick!
Oh and don’t even get me started on their layering abilities. You could layer a turtleneck with pretty much any piece in your wardrobe. Shirts, long coats, bikini tops, name it and it's on the list.
The white shirt
White shirts are like those smart, ‘know it all’ friends. Everyone has them, and secretly likes them in their own way. They are one of the easiest fits to pull off when styled in the right way. Put it together with a great tux and you’re ready for that business meeting, pair it with some heavy jewelry and you’re the star of the show!
Feeling a bit experimental? Rework your shirt into a tiny dress along with high knee boots and a shoulder bag and you are the next Carrie Bradshaw in your city!
The Little Black Dress
The name says it, it's a classic! An occasion where the LBD won’t fit is pretty hard to find. Thanks to Audrey Hepburn and her amazing, everlasting style this tiny piece from the 60s is still running its course. We have bodycons for casuals, preppy A-lines in formals, and full-length sleek ones for a night out. The tiny black slip dress with its bias cut is my personal favorite and is undoubtedly one of the most popularly loved fits today.
Accessorizing them is totally optional, you could add some big earrings if you feel extra or just the dress would be a statement enough!
Denim
There’s always a denim for every mood. Blues, whites, skirts, patchworks, jackets, is there anything that denim can’t rock? Flared jeans for the 90s, skirts, and jumpsuits for the 2000s, and wide-legged pants for the 2010s. Denim has been on the charts in the history of fashion since forever. It always enhances your outfit, adding an element of texture, color, and style to it.
If you’re feeling a little antsy, you could always dye your denim or cut them out into a hot vest, put on some glasses, and own that Y2K style. The possibilities of denim are endless, so the more you have the merrier!
Cropped Spaghetti
Now personally, I feel like these cuties don’t get the credit they deserve. They have so much more potential than we think they do. You could wear them with a wrap skirt on a beach day or with an oversized blazer and you will surely pull off the Gucci model look.
Layering them with a sweater is also an option if you don’t want to show too much skin or you simply feel like going an extra mile. Ps. Pair them with anything leather and you will see magic!
Straight Pants
Straight pants are an absolute staple. Even the basic blacks and beiges could produce an entire row of outfits that you previously never thought of. They could either be the element that blends in or stands out, if you want them to; these are your stylist-approved alternatives for everyday jeans that really need to take a break. Smart, classy and chic, everything that a girl could ever want!
Boots
Confession: I believe Boots just make the fashion world a better place to live in. Apart from the regular black pumps that would go with any outfit, you throw along with it, other wild ones like the animal prints or pointy silhouettes could do the job much more efficiently.
Boots would do well with a cute dress as much as they would with smart pants and that’s my favorite bit about them. They are comfy, unique, stylish, bold, and pretty much my entire personality in a shoe!
While the list could be never-ending for me, I think I should stop here before I end up convincing you to buy absolutely everything from the store!
